The Operations Manager oversees the logistics company’s daily operations, ensuring that warehousing, transportation, and distribution services are efficient, cost-effective, and of high quality. This role focuses on maximizing productivity, meeting customer requirements, and enhancing operational processes. The Operations Manager also ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards, managing staff and resources to optimize performance across logistics functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Oversight and Efficiency
- Supervise and manage all aspects of logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, order fulfillment, and customer service.
- Monitor KPIs and metrics to track performance and efficiency across operational activities, such as on-time deliveries, order accuracy, and inventory levels.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to streamline operations and reduce costs.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, train, and mentor the operations team to build a high-performing, customer-focused workforce.
- Set clear performance goals and conduct regular evaluations, ensuring that team members have the resources and support to succeed.

- Fleet and Transportation Management
- Oversee fleet operations, ensuring that vehicles are well-maintained, safe, and compliant with all transportation regulations.
- Plan and optimize routes to maximize efficiency and minimize fuel costs, reducing overall transportation expenses.
- Monitor driver performance, manage schedules, and implement measures to improve safety and punctuality.
- Inventory and Warehouse Management
- Ensure accurate inventory management practices, minimizing stock discrepancies and optimizing storage space.
- Manage warehouse operations, ensuring effective storage, picking, and packing of goods.
- Implement systems and procedures to improve inventory tracking, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.
- Customer Service and Relationship Management
- Collaborate closely with the customer service team to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality service delivery.
- Address customer concerns, coordinate with other departments to resolve issues promptly, and identify ways to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Engage with clients and suppliers to maintain strong relationships, aligning services with their expectations.
- Budgeting and Cost Control
- Develop and manage the operations budget, monitoring expenses and identifying areas for cost reduction.
- Track and analyze costs related to labor, transportation, and warehousing, recommending ways to reduce overhead without compromising service quality.
- Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure favorable contracts and terms.
- Compliance and Safety Management
- Ensure compliance with all industry regulations, safety standards, and legal requirements related to logistics and transportation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety protocols to minimize risks and create a secure working environment.
- Conduct safety training and regular inspections, ensuring staff are aware of and adhere to safety procedures.
- Technology and Process Improvement
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and systems to improve operational efficiency, such as route optimization software, warehouse management systems (WMS), and ERP tools.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, introducing best practices and lean principles to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; a master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience as an Operations Manager or in a similar role within logistics, supply chain, or transportation.
- In-depth knowledge of logistics processes, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
