The General Manager (GM) is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the logistics company, ensuring that services meet high-quality standards, are cost-effective, and align with overall business goals. This role includes strategic planning, team management, process improvement, and ensuring customer satisfaction to drive growth and efficiency across logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Execution
- Develop and implement strategies that align with company goals, enhancing logistics efficiency and profitability.
- Oversee business development activities to grow customer base, maintain relationships, and explore new markets.
- Operational Management
- Ensure the smooth operation of all logistics functions, including warehousing, distribution, fleet management, and customer service.
- Monitor key logistics metrics such as delivery times, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction, implementing improvements as necessary.
- Develop and optimize processes for inventory management, routing, and order fulfillment to reduce costs and improve service.
- Financial Oversight
- Work closely with the finance team to create budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Manage P&L to ensure profitability and develop cost-saving strategies.
- Oversee pricing, contract negotiations, and supplier agreements to maximize value.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, setting clear goals and fostering a collaborative work culture.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management within the operations team.
- Establish a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards and regulations.
- Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, suppliers, and partners to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Address customer concerns or issues promptly, providing solutions to maintain service quality and customer trust.
- Analyze customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted strategies.
- Process Improvement and Innovation
- Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization to improve speed, accuracy, and cost-efficiency.

- Implement best practices for logistics and supply chain management, incorporating lean principles where applicable.
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations related to logistics, transportation, and safety.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with supply chain, logistics processes, and vendor relationships.
- Maintain up-to-date policies and procedures for regulatory compliance, safety, and quality assurance.
- Reporting and Communication
- Prepare and present regular operational reports to executive leadership, summarizing performance metrics, financial status, and improvement plans.
- Communicate company vision and goals to the operations team, ensuring alignment across all levels of the organization.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; a Master’s degree or MBA is advantageous.
- Proven experience as a General Manager or similar senior role in logistics, supply chain, or transportation.
- Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain processes, including warehousing, distribution, and inventory management.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets, P&L, and financial reports.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and relationship building.
