Overview

The position is expected to lead the production team of Rolling Mills and is directly responsible for planning, directing monitoring,
and scheduling staff, and work operations safely and efficiently. This position is also responsible for driving improvement initiatives, and achieving production goals
through lean methodologies while adhering to set quality standards.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor Of Engineering / Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Production)
  • Six Sigma certification or any other relevant certification – preferred
  • The overall experience of 12+ years (15+ Yrs. for Diploma candidates) in production/operations in long product mills.
  • Working experience in African Countries or Gulf Countries is desirable, but not a pre-requisite.
  • Must have worked in TMT Mills (Semi-continuous or continuous) and Light Duty Section Mill.
  • Work exposure to Roll Shop including Pass Design/modification would be preferred and will have an added advantage.
  • Should have worked for Min. 03 Years at Production Manager position, handling all the operational function independently.
  • Should have strong leadership abilities and a teamwork attitude.

Business Understanding

  • Understanding of economic and market trends in the steel industry in the respective region.

  • In-depth knowledge of steel production process and equipment

1 Production planning & strategy
  • Understand sales forecast data in alignment with production capacity and finalize production plan based on the same
  • Establish and monitor short and long-term performance objectives and goals including, but not limited to: safety, on-time delivery, profitability, cost savings, and quality
  • Conduct monthly planning and share details of grades produced, oversee and manage the entire production process in coordination with team members across departments to produce the desired grades, sizes, and quantities and achieve the set target
  • Share the weekly plan with section heads, review the production plan, track progress, identify procurement requirements and finalize future order schedules with procurement
  • Forecast and maintain production manning schedules and plan the basis of the short-term and long-term production plan
  • Review and approve cost estimates, manpower, and facilities requirements
  • Conduct regular cross-functional production meetings including scrap team, HR, and logistics support

2 Production efficiency management

  • Review yearly statutory internal audits; identify areas of concern and develop an action plan to resolve the same

  • Understand the needs of each client and build best practices in production
  • Promote and implement initiatives to reduce waste, improve quality, increase efficiency, promote safety, and foster continuous improvement
  • Ensure all employees in production are aware of and adhere to quality norms and review plant performance reports and address issues
  • Visit various production units, identify issues and conduct troubleshooting, propose suggestions, initiative / oversee new projects and provide the support required for special projects/facility development for production
