Overview

A CCTV (closed circuit television) operator works in a central control room, monitoring and controlling a bank of screens. These are linked to surveillance cameras placed in company’s compound, buildings and places such as construction sites, to detect and prevent crime, and protect people.

PURPOSE OF JOB

  • Monitoring of all activities within the company premises to prevent intrusion/theft of clients’ cargo, company property, and any other party property.

 

KEY RESULT AREA PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)
 
  • Ensure proper monitoring of all activities within the company premises to prevent intrusion/theft of company properties.
  • Report/escalate all violators daily appropriately as seen in the scene of the incident
  • Undertake all the CCTV surveillance during field observation and report all abnormalities observed
  • Ensure that all offline/faulty cameras are reported to the Human Resources Manager and the ICT Officer for immediate resolution.
  • Integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of all information gained in CCTV control center by quality standards and legislation to ensure implementation of various modifications for smooth running.
  • Maintain proper shift handing over while running the shift.
  • Ensure proper coordination with security officers, vigilantes, police, and the army, to prevent intrusion and stealing within the company.
  • To attend related meetings.
  • Maintaining confidentiality on security matters/ official information.
  • To Comply with any other assignment given by your supervisor/ in-charge.
  • To proffer ideas to supervisor in improving CCTV surveillance monitoring system.
  • Suggest modification for the betterment of CCTV devices/ equipment
  • Ensure CCTV equipment are always in good working conditions.
  • To be able to monitor and operate the CCTV system, ensuring fully functioning recording.
  • To monitor and assist where possible the security staff in the detention of any person found committing an arrestable offense.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

  1. Reports to: Human Resources Manager
  2. Number and levels of Immediate Subordinates

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Diploma in Information Technology/Related business qualification

 

  1. Minimum Relevant Pre-job Experience:
  • Three years of experience in a similar position from a reputable company
  1. Consequence of error
  2. Communication Skills: Able to communicate in English and Swahili
  • Written Skills: Very good – should be able to use a computer
  • Oral Skills: Very good
  1. Numeric/Computation skills: very good
  2. Experience in working within the Security Industry is an advantage
  3. Computer literacy is helpful
